Because the gear box ratio are diferent at diferent cars and IC is the same, IC can be coded in order to show correct distance, it divide information from speed senzor by a number, number set by the Impulse/distance number.

Azi am fost la Avia, gasit un update la Climatronic, nu am gasit nimic pentru instruments. Deci inca nu-mi arata temperatura uleiului, Cineva de la reprezentanta, are cunostinta de vre-un update in acest sens? sa nu fi gasit deoarece la mine nu e cazul sa arate si cand trebuie sa schimbi viteza?

Am vazut ca la cele care arata versiunea de soft este 0110 sau 0111, la mine e 0106.

le am activat eu cu ajutorul la ce am gasit pe forum, si dupa asta tot m-am mai jucat prin codari. dupa ce am facut niste setari aiurea am revenit la cele de fabrica, si am codat numai se era documentat in VCDS. de atunci corneringul merge numai pe unghi volan. deci undeva mai e un bit pe care prima oara il activasem, si acu nu-l gasesc. sigur a mers inainte, doar nu sunt nebun.

From what I've read, in order to "play" with Byte 18 you have to know the ***existing*** coding for your car.

If you don't know the existing coding (NOT 00!) you might not be able to code it back.

Putting 00 in Byte 18 doesn't change anything! It leaves the original coding intact.

On two Superb II, I've noticed that Byte 18 is 1B. On all other cars I've scanned, Byte 18 was 00 (including mine).

If you have a coding of 1B and change it to 00, it doesn't do anything! The car behaves exactly like 1B. In this case, you can start "playing" with other values. If you fail, you can always go back to 1B.

But if you have 00 and start "playing", what will you do if you fail?

No, I believe this is not true. If you put 00, you "leave it unchanged". With 00, the controller behaves as having the previous value (before putting 00).

So, if you have 1B, you can test any value and see what happens. You can always change it back to 1B. Then, if you put 00 again, it still behaves like 1B.

But if you initially have 00, you don't know what the "previous" (actual coding) is.

edit (example):

1. You have 1B. The car behaves like 1B.

2. You put 00. The car behaves like 1B.

3. You put, let's say, 1C. The car behaves like 1C.

4. You put 00. The car behaves like 1C.

5. You put 1B. The car behaves like 1B.

6. You put 00. The car behaves like 1B.

Ok, i understood. Tomorrow i will go to the dealer to have 30kk service inspection done. Maybe VAS 5051 will see the real coding of byte 18.
