Observ ca designerii dau dovada de lipsa de inspiratie sau poate din alte motive tipurile de masini din cadrul aceleasi marci incep sa semene prea mult. Asa cum seamana leon/alteea/toledo vad asemanari si in clanul Audi.

Da nici mie nu imi place moda asta. Acelasi design adaptat la diverse clase de masini.AU intrat probabil intr-o usoara criza de inspiratie...oricum se va ajunge la un moment in care nu vor avea incotro si va trebui sa fie schimbata radical linia de design ...asa cum s-a intamplat cu actuala generatie la BMW. Dar pana atunci trag de vechile forme cat se poate...A4 de exemplu in linii mari e cam la fel de 10 ani incoace - multe facelifturi dar nimic radical.

arata frumos A7 dar inspiratia de la CLS e clara...doar ca se pare ca pluseaza: decapotabila cu 4 usi, cam extravagant dupa gustul meu.

VW production chief wants to fill factories

German brand wants to take Toyota head-on

Volkswagen will focus on increasing productivity and quality at its underperforming and underused German factories.

Jochem Heizmann, VW group’s new head of quality, said his goal is to return all VW group factories to full use. “We have enormous potential from a product standpoint across the group,” Heizmann told Automotive News Europe in an interview here. “Toyota will have tough competition.”

Heizmann’s comments are some of the most detailed on the carmaker’s strategy since Martin Winterkorn took over as VW CEO on January 1. Winterkorn has said he wants more VW models, but has provided few details.

VW is saddled with an overcapacity of about 750,000 cars a year, according to industry analysts. The group delivered 3,395,400 cars to customers in 2006. But VW’s costs are so high the company loses money on every car made in Germany, analysts say.

Heizmann said he will try to increase productivity through standardization of production processes. That should lower the time it takes to manufacture a vehicle in a VW factory.

Heizmann spent six years as board member for production at the Audi premium-car unit of the VW group. Audi achieved near-full capacity in Europe during that time.

At Audi, Heizmann called the measure of progress “engineered hours per vehicle,” or the time directly connected to assembling a car. He reduced that measure by 20 percent in the last six years, he said.

Heizmann said VW will work on improving assembly times and increasing operational flexibility with the goal of building multiple vehicles on the same assembly line in the future.

“We need more volume and the general objective is to have flexibility in all off our plants,” Heizmann said. “If we can mix different models on one line it would solve demand issues. The question is how quickly we can react to market demand.”

On quality, Heizmann said he is targeting a goal of having zero defects in VW group vehicles.
